Biography

Emmanuel R. Wheagar, Sr. is the founder of the Second Chance Gospel Music Convention, inc. which was established in 1999 after a deadly motor accident that nearly claimed his life. Feeling grateful for a Second Chance at life, he brought together a group of community leaders and musicians with a mission to accomplish God's purpose in his life by touching the lives of others through Christian music and developing and providing empowerment services to inner-city teens. He realized that our community was in a corrupt state because the devil has developed a musical stronghold that became a driving force for confusion. The contaminated lyrics of some of the popular sounds or mainstream circular music of today have affected our community in a way that does not project Christ.  He has since lead the ministry in such a profound manner by expanding locally and globally ministering Gospel concerts, seminars, and studio recordings.

The Second Chance singing team was awarded its position as finalist of the McDonald's Gospel fest 2005; hosted by the legendary Aretha Franklin, Donnie Mcklurkin, Vicky Winans, among other gospel artists. The ministry has also been spotlighted on NY 1 News, ABC 7, Staten Island Advance and other news media outlet.  The 501(C) (3) Not for profit ministry has been a blessing to many underprivileged inner-city teens via its STEPS program.

The 5 Points to Successful Ministry in the Arts

Light - let your light so shine before men that they may witness your good work and glorify your father which is in heaven. Your daily action is a great approach to evangelize as an artist.  You could effectively bring people to Christ in this manner.

Affiliations-   Be not equally yoked with people that have the potential tear your ministry apart. Be very open-minded and not narrow your horizons to only church folks. Extend yourself to others so that Christ can be glorified. Be friendly and speak to people from the lyrics in your music; that really works.

Recruiting members - go ye into all the world and spread the gospel. Do not be afraid or ashamed of your status as a gospel artist. Boldness is your greatest weapon and an effective means of informing people of what your stand for. Be blunt an honest concerning your beliefs and offer a copy of your work (dance videos / DVD's, CD' and demos) as a gift. This will place you in a unique category in the minds of people and they will gravitate to your message quickly regardless of who they are. Your auditions should not be limited to merely people that go to church. Remember, you are seeking lost souls and transforming them to be fishers of men as well.

Performance - Study to show thy self approved unto God, for a work man needed not to be ashamed, but rightly dividing the words of truth. Your stage performance as an artist is the most important component of your ministry. Your performances must be well rehearsed and flawless ministered. Your dance, music, or spoken words must present a clear and concise message. What you are doing as an artist is plainly preaching the word of God. As an evangelizing artist, you ought to minister to yourself first, glorify God in truth and in spirit, and then the body of Christ will be edified.

Prayer- Above all, prayer is the master key. As an evangelizing artist, you should not lean only on your talent and skills. Pray for the anointing of God to fall fresh upon you. Pray for the holy spirit to seize complete control of you during rehearsals and performances. You are only a vessel and Christ is the captain - With out Him we are nothing, will be nothing, and will remain nothing.
